Seeholzer Vision Center was built on the hard work and vision of our founder, Dr. Loyal Harold Seeholzer. Before becoming an optometrist, Dr. Seeholzer served bravely in World War II as part of the famed 10th Mountain Division, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star for his service and sacrifice. After the war, he returned home to Cache Valley, attended Utah State University, and went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 1951. When he came back, Dr. Seeholzer not only began caring for the eyes of his neighbors but also worked alongside his parents and siblings to help establish Beaver Mountain Ski Area—now a beloved part of local life in Cache Valley.
Dr. Seeholzer’s impact reached far beyond the walls of his office. He was a driving force in helping Utah optometrists gain the ability to use therapeutic medications in 1982, and again in the late 1990s when those privileges expanded. His leadership in the Utah Optometric Association helped ensure that patients in our community could receive the best care close to home.
What began with Loyal’s vision has now grown into a true family legacy. His son, Dr. Jeff Seeholzer, and his grandson, Dr. Cole Rayfield, continue to carry on his tradition of compassionate, personalized care. Together, they are proud to serve generations of families in Cache Valley, honoring Loyal’s example by helping our community see their very best.
